Among his many books Pat is the author of Trading Fours – his memoir of his founding the Musicians Institute.
Pat Hicks founded Musicians Institute in 1976. TRADING FOURS is a memoir of the Golden years of Musician Institute from 1977 to 1994. Pat was born and raised in the San Fernando Valley where he grew up making his own way. He raced motorcycles, crashed and dropped out of High School, owned a music store, played the guitar, fought fires, was a National Director of the Yamaha Music Schools, and finally founded Musicians Institute. Presently, he lives happily with his lovely wife Paula in Sedona Arizona, and occasionally playing guitar in local clubs. Pat was honored by Mayor Tom Bradley for MI’s contribution to the culture of Hollywood. Many stories have been aired and published heralding the success of MI from it’s humble beginnings, and against all odds, becoming one of the leading Music schools in the world.
